Initial Setup

• Your favorite flavor of MAME
• Japan Version B ROM: batriderj (more info)

👀 Optional: MAME overlay

Designed by baf (Twitch / Twitter), this adds an “M2 Shot Triggers” style overlay with lots of additional information: current rank, which bosses you’ve triggered, and more.

• Put this zip file in your MAME / artwork folder, do not unzip it

• Open MAME, go to General Options (at the bottom of the main menu) → Plugins and turn on Layout helper plugin

Minimizing Rank

🎛️ Set your dip switches

• In MAME: press F2 to load Service menu, or: press Tab, navigate to Dip Switches and open Service menu
• Select GAME MODE and press P1 Start

This will set your rank at the minimum amount (~3% for Normal mode). Treat yourself to a save state after booting and you only have to do this once!
