Initial Setup

📋 Requirements

• Your favorite flavor of MAME
• Japan Version B ROM: batriderj (more info)

👀 Optional: MAME overlay

Designed by baf (Twitch / Twitter), this adds an “M2 Shot Triggers” style overlay with lots of additional information: current rank, which bosses you’ve triggered, and more.

• Put this zip file in your MAME / artwork folder, do not unzip it

• Open MAME, go to General Options (at the bottom of the main menu) → Plugins and turn on Layout helper plugin

<aside> ⚠️

You may see an LUA error when you launch the game. This is expected, and won’t affect the game itself! Just click back into your game window and leave the error un-dismissed in the background.

Minimizing Rank

🎛️ Set your dip switches

• In MAME: press F2 to load Service menu, or: press Tab, navigate to Dip Switches and open Service menu
• Select GAME MODE and press P1 Start

This will set your rank at the minimum amount (~3% for Normal mode). Treat yourself to a save state after booting and you only have to do this once!
